Men's Soccer Blanks Plymouth State, 1-0

NEW HAMPTON, N.H. -- Junior Justin Kachadoorian (Leicester, Mass.) scored the only goal of the match with 15 minutes remaining in the first half, and that stood as the game-winner Sunday afternoon as Bridgewater State University edged Plymouth State University, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer action at the New Hampton School Field.

Kachadoorian let a shot go from the top of the right side of the box, and it made its way into the top left corner for his first goal of the season. Junior midfielder Kolin Campbell (Norton, Mass.) assisted on the scoring strike.

The defensive-minded battle went the rest of the way without any goals, with just a total of 16 shots, nine by the visitors. The outcome pushed BSU's record back to the .500 mark at 2-2, while PSU drops to 1-4 with its third one-goal setback.

Sophomore keeper Colin Jepson (Sandwich, Mass.) needed to make just two saves to post the clean sheet. The Bears defense was keyed by the back line of seniors Chris Naughton (Braintree, Mass.) and Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.), sophomore Jonathan Pires (Medford, Mass.) and freshman Owen Russell (Marshfield, Mass.).

PSU's best chance at scoring came in the final five minutes of the second half but a shot by junior Graham Hughes (Billerica, Mass.) bounced off the crossbar.

PSU plays again on Wednesday with a non-conference match at Daniel Webster College (4:00 p.m.), while Bridgewater State plays its home opener Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. vs. Rhode Island College.
