Ryan Seifert Named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior goaltender Ryan Seifert has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Defensive Player of the Week.

Seifert backstopped the Bears to an undefeated record last week as he posted a 2-0 mark with 17 saves and an impressive 0.50 goals against average.

A native of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Seifert, recorded his fourth shutout of the season and fifth of his career at BSC as he stopped 10 shots in a 1-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) triumph over Fitchburg State. He also added seven saves in 2-1 victory over Brandeis University.

Seifert is currently 7-1-1 on the season with 48 saves a 0.65 goals against average. He ranks second in the MASCAC in goals against average and save percentage (.889), fifth in saves and is tied for fourth in shutouts.

In two seasons at BSC, Seifert has appeared in 19 games and has a record of 11-5-3 with 118 saves and a 1.14 goals against average.

Earlier this week, Seifert was selected as the MASCAC Player of the Week.
