Jon Machado Selected to NEISL Senior All-Star Game

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior defender Jon Machado has been selected to play in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game which will be played at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. on May 2nd at 2:00 PM.
Machado will join 33 other New England Division III players chosen to play in the match which features players from all NCAA Divisions.
A native of Weymouth, Massachusetts, Machado registered two goals and an assist during the 2008 season while also anchoring a defensive unit that helped the Bears post an impressive 0.76 team goals against average to go along with eight shutouts.
In 39 career games at Bridgewater State, Machado notched five goals and six assists for a total of 17 points. He was named to the All-MASCAC First Team in each of his two seasons as a member of the BSC men's soccer program.
Bridgewater State completed the 2008 season with a record of 11-5-2 including a 4-2-1 mark in the MASCAC. Seeded third in the conference tournament, the Bears dropped a 3-0 decision to second-seeded Salem State College in the semifinals.
In 2007, Machado's first season with the team, Bridgewater finished 8-11-2 with a 4-3 conference record. The Bears, however, captured the MASCAC Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third time in program history.
