Admar Jaramillo Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of The Week

 

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Admar Jaramillo has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Jaramillo averaged 12 points, 1.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and seven steals in two games during the MASCAC Tournament. He equaled his career-high with 19 points to go along with three rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and a career-high ten steals in an opening round win over Framingham State University. He also tallied five points, six assists and four steals in a semifinal setback to Salem State University.

In 25 games this season, Jaramillo averaged 8.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.6 steals while shooting 78% (39-50) at the free throw line. He currently ranks first in the MASCAC in steals  per game and fourth in assists. Jaramillo is also 12th in all of Division III in steals per game.

The BSU men's basketball team closed out the 2018-2019 season with an overall record of 9-18 and went 6-6 in conference play. Seeded fourth in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears knocked off the fifth-seeded Rams, 101-84, in the quarterfinal round before dropping an 93-80 decision to the top-seeded Vikings in the semifinals.
