Men's Basketball Falls to Westfield State, 104-91

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Jauch Green Jr. (Hartford, Conn.) tallied a double-double to lead the Westfield State University men's basketball team to a 104-91 MASCAC victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Saturday afternoon at the Woodward Center.

The Owls improve to 11-10 on the season and 4-4 in the MASCAC, while the visiting Bears fall to 6-14 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

The Owls shot 63% (17-27) from the field in the first half as Westfield built 51-42 lead at the break. Around the 12 minute mark, the Owls went on a 6-0 run to pull ahead 26-19 and never trailed from that point forward.

Westfield finished with six players in double figures, as Green led the way with 32 points on 10 of 14 shooting to go along with ten rebounds (four offensive), five assists and four steals. Green was also 12-for-15 at the free throw line. Vawn Lord (Amherst, Mass.) had his best game as an Owl with 19 points and ten boards to finish with a double-double. Marcus Collins (Cambridge, Mass.) added 22 points and seven rebounds.

Bridgewater was led by a career-high 30 points from Ryan Carney (Easton, Mass.) who shot 13-for-26 from the floor. Admar Jaramillo (Brockton, Mass.) finished with 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocked shots, while Nick Crocker (East Falmouth, Mass.) added 12 points and six boards as well as three assists, two steals and three blocks.

Westfield got a majority of its points inside as they scored 64 points in the paint for the game compared to 48 for Bridgewater. The Owls also finished with a 20-7 edge in fastbreak points.

The MASCAC schedule continues for both teams on Wednesday evening at 5:30. The Owls host Framingham State, while the Bears travel to Salem State.
