Rocky DeAndrade Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior guard Rocky DeAndrade has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

The MASCAC Tournament MVP, DeAndrade averaged 18.5 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals in two games during the Bears' tournament championship run. The Mansfield, Massachusetts product also shot 50% (11-22) from the floor, 36% (4-11) from three-point range and 92% (11-12) at the free throw line.

DeAndrade tallied 25 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 102-93 semifinal win over MCLA. He also notched 12 points, three boards, five assists and three steals in a 77-72 title game victory over Fitchburg State. DeAndrade knocked down four clutch free throws (4-for-4) in the final ten seconds to secure the win over the Falcons.

In 25 games this season, DeAndrade is averaging 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He is also shooting 47% (141-300) from the floor, 41% (61-148) from behind the arc and 85% (67-79) at the charity stripe.

DeAndrade currently ranks second in the MASCAC in scoring, third in both three-point shooting and free throw percentage and is tied for fourth in assists. He is also sixth among the conference leaders in steals and ninth in field goal percentage.

In 104 games over four seasons at Bridgewater State, DeAndrade has amassed 1,139 points, 304 rebounds, 273 assists and 133 steals with a career .439 (383-872) shooting percentage. He presently ranks second all-time at Bridgewater State in free throw shooting (.823, 214-260) and third in three-point percentage (.398, 159-399).

The BSU men's basketball team will head to the NCAA Division III Tournament with an overall record of 18-9. The Bears are making the program's eighth appearance in the national tournament and sixth in the last 13 years.
