Men's Basketball to Travel to Pomona, New Jersey for Sectionals

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - - The Bridgewater State College Bears will travel to Pomona, New Jersey for the sectional round of the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.
The Bears, one of only 16 teams remaining from the original 60-team tournament field, will play Farmingdale State University of New York on Friday night at 6 PM.
The game will be played at Richard Stockton College, which is facing Saint Lawrence in the other sectional semifinal at 8 PM. The two winners advance to play on Saturday night to determine which team will be in the Final Four.
BSC (22-6) stunned Middlebury College in Vermont on Saturday night, overcoming a five-point deficit in the final 37 seconds to win, 78-76.
Senior forward Stace Garrick (West Warwick, RI) knocked down two clutch three-pointers, including the game-winner with 17 seconds left, to lead the Bears to the comeback win. Garrick was selected as the MASCAC Co-Player of the Week for his performance during the first two rounds of the national tournament.
The Bears set the school record for victories and became the first team in program history to win a pair of NCAA tournament games. BSC has also won 16 of its last 17 games and carry a five-game winning streak into Friday night's game with Farmingdale.
Farmingdale State (25-3) went 17-1 in the Skyline Conference and had a 20-game winning streak before losing to Saint Joseph's of Long Island in the conference tournament championship game.
The Rams defeated the University of New England, 90-73, and MIT, 67-61, to open the NCAAs at Rhode Island College in Providence over the weekend.
