Roland Millien Named to NABC All-Northeast District 2nd Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College senior center Roland Millien has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Northeast District Second Team.
A native of Stoughton, Massachusetts, Millien averaged 16.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.93 steals per game during the 2008-2009 season. He also registered a .550 field goal percentage as well as a .817 free throw percentage, and posted 13 double-doubles.
A three-time Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Player of the Week, Millien played and started in all 29 games for the Bears. He finished the season ranked second in the conference in field goal percentage and free throw percentage, fourth in rebounding, fifth in scoring and sixth in steals.
The Bridgewater State men's basketball team won a school record 22 games this season as the team finished 22-7 and captured both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles. The Bears advanced all the way to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division III Tournament before bowing to Farmingdale State University, 84-64, in the sectional semifinals.
BSC's tournament run included a first round 95-79 home victory over St. Joseph's College (Maine) as well as a dramatic 78-76 second round upset win over ninth ranked Middlebury College. BSC trailed by five points in that game with 43 seconds to go, but managed to pull off the improbable come-from-behind victory.
In four years at Bridgewater, Millien finished with 1,160 points as he is 18th all-time on the Bears' career scoring list. He became the 24th player in BSC men's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point milestone in an 82-80 win at Fitchburg State on February 7th.
In 98 career games, Millien averaged 11.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 53.1% from the floor and 73.4% from the free throw line.
