Roland Millien Named MASCAC Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior forward Roland Millien has been named the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A native of Stoughton, Massachusetts, Millien earned Most Valuable Player honors at the College of Staten Island Tournament of Heroes as he led the Bears to the tournament title with wins over host Staten Island and Whitworth University.

Millien averaged 23.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in the two wins and shot an impressive 69-percent (18-for-26) from the floor. He scored 24 points on 10 of 12 shooting and registered nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in Bridgewater State's 87-83 overtime semifinal win over Staten Island. Millien then posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three assists and five steals in the Bears' 88-75 championship game victory over Whitworth.

Millien is currently second in the MASCAC in rebounding (8.8 rpg) and defensive rebounds (5.6 rpg) and fourth in offensive rebounds (3.2 rpg). He is also fifth overall in steals (2.0 spg), sixth in field goal percentage (.575) and ninth in the conference in scoring (15.0 ppg).

The Bears are currently 4-6 on the season and will host Endicott College on Thursday, January 10th at 7 PM.  BSC opens MASCAC play on Tuesday, January 15th as the Bears travel to Westfield State College for a 7:30 tip-off with the Owls.
