BSC Bears Win Sixth Straight with 80-72 Win over Framingham

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - In MASCAC men's basketball action, senior forward Roland Millien (Stoughton, MA) tallied a game-high 19 points and 8 rebounds while freshman forward Judah Jackson (Everett, MA) scored 16 to lead Bridgewater State College over visiting Framingham State, 80-72, at the Tinsley Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears continue to ride a six-game winning streak and improve their record to 8-6 overall and 2-0 in the MASCAC. The Rams slip to 6-9 on the season while falling to 1-1 in conference play.

Bridgewater State was also led by senior guard Tom Cuddihy (Scituate, MA) who scored 11 points while registering a game-high 5 steals. Senior forward Dwayne Wilkerson (East Providence, MA) had a great all-around game as he pulled down 8 rebounds, scored 8 points, and blocked 4 shots in 16 minutes off the bench.

Millien's 19 points came off of 5-for-9 shooting from the floor and on 9-for-13 from the charity stripe. Cuddihy also moved up BSC's all-time scoring list into ninth place by passing Peter Santos's total of 1,302 points. With his 11 points, he now has a total of 1,310 in his outstanding career.

Framingham State was led by senior guard Michael Costa (Holbrook, MA) who scored a team-high 16 points while classmate Rob Scarpato (Hopkinton, MA) chipped in with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Sophomore forward Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, MA) and senior center James Molyneaux (Hyde Park, MA) each added 14 points for the Rams.

The Bears shot an impressive 57% (16-28) from the floor in the second half while they held Framingham to 15% (2-13) from the three point line. BSC also improved their free throw shooting percentage from the first half (8-17, 47%) to the second half (12-14, 86%) while they also forced 11 steals and blocked 8 shots.

Trailing 60-57 with 8:34 to play the Bears went on a 10-0 run to reclaim the lead for good. Bridgewater held Framingham scoreless for more than four and a half minutes during the run. Millien tied the game at 60-60 with a pair of free throws and then freshman forward Nicholas Motta (Fairhaven, MA) gave the Bears the lead with a steal and a lay-up. The Bears went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the final minute of play to put the game out of reach.

The Bears will travel on Monday to North Adams, MA to play their next game versus MCLA at 4 PM. Framingham State will play on Tuesday at 7:30 PM against Worcester State at home.
