Field Hockey Falls to Keene State in Little East Quarterfinals

KEENE, N.H. -- Second-seeded Keene State College posted a 4-0 shutout victory over #7 Bridgewater State University in the quarterfinal round of the 2018 Little East Conference Field Hockey Tournament on Tuesday evening at the Owl Athletic Complex.

The host Owls improve to 15-6 on the season and advance to the tournament semifinal round. Keene will take on third-seeded University of Southern Maine on Friday at Castleton University.

The visiting Bears end the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 9-9.

Sophomore forward Nina Bruno (Agawam, Mass.) tallied two goals and an assist to pace the Owls. Keene also received goals from junior forward Kelsey Roberts (Greenfield, Mass.) and senior midfielder Erica Stauffer (Cheshire Conn.), while senior forward Julia Babbitt (Haddam, Conn.) dished out a pair of assists.

The Owls finished with a decided 31-7 shot advantage as well as a 12-2 edge in penalty corner attempts.

Sophomore Rachel Loseby (Hartford, Vt.) turned aside six shots to record her second shutout of the season between the pipes for Keene.

BSU senior netminder Allison Chappell (Raynham, Mass.) equaled her season-high with 15 saves in the setback. Chappell wrapped up her career at Bridgewater State fifth all-time in program history with 335 saves.
