Field Hockey Falls to Little East Foe Keene State, 2-0

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Keene State College field hockey team posted a 2-0 shutout over Little East Conference foe Bridgewater State University on Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field.

The visiting Owls improve to 4-3 on the season and 2-0 in the Little East, while the Bears fall to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, Keene State on the board just 2:49 into the final stanza as senior forward Marisa Lemoine (Berlin, N.H.) knocked home a rebound after a terrific save by BSU junior goaltender Emily Mosca (Dedham, Mass.).

Mosca, who was making her first appearance in goal, finished with nine saves on the day as she kept the Bears within striking distance.

Sophomore forward Sami Smith (Merrimack, N.H.) would add an insurance tally for the Owls in the 50th minute off a crossing pass from junior midfielder Haylie Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass.).

Keene State finished with a 13-3 shot advantage for the game as well as a 10-4 edge in penalty corners.  Junior netminder Meaghan Dwyer (Rutland, Mass.) made two saves to record her second shutout of the season.

Sophomore midfielder Brittany Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) recorded all three shots on goal for the Bears.

In upcoming action, Bridgewater State travels to New England College on Wednesday afternoon for a four o'clock game with the Pilgrims. Keene State hosts Trinity College on Tuesday evening at six.
