Mark Wilson Named MASCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior safety Mark Wilson has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week.

Wilson returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to help secure the Bears’ 21-9 MASCAC win on the road over Worcester State University this past weekend. The Foxborough, Massachusetts product also recorded eight tackles (three solo) in the victory as he helped the BSU defense limit the Lancers to just 165 yards of total offense.

In five games this season, Wilson has recorded 29 tackles (19 solo) and three pass breakups go along with his pick-six.

In 16 games over two seasons in a BSU uniform, Wilson has amassed 100 tackles (65 solo) with four tackles for loss, 13 passes defended and three forced fumbles.

The BSU football team is currently 3-3 on the season and 3-1 in the MASCAC. Winners of three straight games, the Bears will entertain UMass Dartmouth during Homecoming Weekend on Saturday (Oct. 19) afternoon at three.
