BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore linebacker Michael Rosa has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Football Rookie of the Week.
A native of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, Rosa notched a team-best ten tackles (seven solo) with a sack and pass breakup in the Bears' 44-28 Homecoming win over MASCAC rival UMass Dartmouth on Saturday.
Through seven games this season, Rosa has amassed a team-leading 52 tackles (28 solo) including 4 1/2 for loss and 2 1/2 sacks. He also has two pass breakups.
Rosa currently ranks second in the MASCAC in tackles. He is also tied for eighth in the conference in both solo tackles and sacks.
The BSU football team is presently 5-2 on the season and 4-1 in the MASCAC. Winners of four straight, the Bears travel to Western Connecticut State University next Saturday evening for a key conference game with the Colonials. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 PM.
