Jack Lavanchy Named to New England Football Writers All-New England Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight season, Bridgewater State University senior wide receiver Jack Lavanchy has been selected to the New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team.

In 11 games during the 2018 season, Lavanchy hauled in 97 passes for 1,236 yards and 13 touchdowns as he broke his own BSU single-season mark for receptions. The Walpole, Massachusetts product led the MASCAC in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

On the national stage, Lavanchy currently ranks second in all of Division III in receiving yards. He is also third in receptions and tied for 13th in receiving touchdowns.

In three seasons with the Bears, Lavanchy amassed 225 receptions for 2,982 yards and 29 touchdowns. He is the program's all-time leader in both receptions and receiving yards, and is tied for second all-time in receiving touchdowns.

Lavanchy also holds the Bears' single-game records for catches (14) and receiving yards (254). He set both marks in 2017 against Western Connecticut State.

The BSU football team finished the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 8-3 including a 6-2 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) mark. The Bears capped off the season with a 34-19 victory over Salve Regina University in the New England Bowl.

Earlier this month, Lavanchy was named the MASCAC Offensive Player of the Year. He was also one of eight Bears named to the All-MASCAC Team as he garnered first team honors for the second straight season.

Joining Lavanchy on this year's New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team from the MASCAC are Framingham State's Rashaun RiversAntonio Mitjans of UMass Dartmouth, Travon Holder and Zach Howard of Westfield State and Worcester State's Jacob Maher.
