Chris Easter Named MASCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior cornerback Chris Easter has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Football Defensive Player of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.

Easter earned Most Valuable Player honors to lead the Bears to a 34-19 victory over Salve Regina University in the New England Bowl. The Poughkeepsie, New York product recorded two interceptions to go along with five pass breakups and six solo tackles. He returned his second interception 21 yards to set up a touchdown on the opening possession of the third quarter.

In six games after moving over to the defensive side of the ball in 2018, Easter registered 16 tackles (14 solo) with three interceptions and seven pass breakups. He tied for third among the MASCAC leaders in interceptions and tied for sixth in pass breakups. 

Easter also averaged 17.5 yards on 23 kickoff returns this season as well as 8.8 yards on four punt returns.

The BSU football team wrapped up the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 8-3. The Bears tied for second in the MASCAC standings with a 6-2 conference mark.
