Equestrian Wraps Up Opening Weekend at Holly Hill Show

HANOVER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team wrapped up the season's first weekend of competition as the Bears competed on Sunday in an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 event hosted by Boston University at Holly Hill Show Stables in Hanover.

Sophomore Madison Elliott (Centerville, Mass.) guided Kobe, a 15.3 hand appendix quarter horse gelding, to a beautiful first place in limit fences. Elliott also had a great ride on Joker in intermediate flat.

Freshman Ashley Crosby (Littleton, Mass.) rode a 16.1 hand chestnut gelding, Harry, to a fourth place ribbon in open flat. Crosby then rode Elian, a 17.1 hand grey gelding, to a third place finish in intermediate fences.

Freshman Sophia Barnard (Halifax, Mass.) piloted Libby, a 16.1 hand bay mare, to a sixth place performance in open over fences.

Sophomore Katherine Ryan (Mendon, Mass.) had a beautiful ride on Daisy in intermediate flat.

Senior Jeanna Meloni (Falmouth, Mass.) jumped Caramel through her limit fences class to a fifth place ribbon. Meloni then rode Daisy, a 16.1 hand chestnut mare, to a second place showing in limit flat.

Senior Sydney Hawes (Pembroke, Mass.) piloted Kobe to a second place ribbon in her limit flat class.

Junior Emily Wolfe (East Bridgewater, Mass.) rode Cisco, a 16.3 bay gelding, to a fourth place ribbon in novice flat. Also in a tough novice flat, junior Emily Adams (Plympton, Mass.) had a solid ride on Casper, a 16.1 gray gelding.

Junior Abigail Adams (Webster, Mass.) rode Cisco to a second place showing in introductory.

Bridgewater State place fifth in the team standings.

The Bears are off until Saturday, October 26th when they get back into the  ring at a show hosted by Stonehill College at Winters End Farm in Stoughton.
