Equestrian Wraps Up Regular Season at Point Show

STOUGHTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday at a point show co-hosted by Bridgewater State and Stonehill College at Winters End Farm in Stoughton.

Senior Kelly Thies (Cranston, R.I.) opened the day with a third-place showing in her first open fences class on Chevy, a 16.2 bay gelding. Theis also rode Keeper, a 16 hand chestnut gelding in open flat and placed second in the event.

Freshman Madison Elliott (Foxboro, Mass.) won her intermediate flat class on Chevy.

Junior Jeanna Meloni (Falmouth, Mass.) placed fourth in novice fences on Dillon, a 15.2 hand chestnut gelding, while sophomore Tessa LeBlanc (Harwich, Mass.) rode Caramel, a 14.2 hand chestnut gelding, in her first novice flat class, placing fifth.

Sophomore Emily Adams (Plympton, Mass.) finished off the day in walk trot canter as she placed sixth on Pappi, a grey pony gelding.

Next Saturday, qualifying members of the BSU equestrian team will complete at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone One, Region Four Championships held at Holly Hill Show Stables in Hanover.
