Equestrian Competes in Final Show of Fall Season

GRAFTON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University equestrian team wrapped up the fall portion of the schedule on Sunday at a show hosted by Boston College and held at the Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center in Grafton.

Senior Kelly Thies (Cranston, R.I.) placed fifth in intermediate fences on Coda, a 15.3 hand thoroughbred mare, while freshman Madison Elliott (Foxboro, Mass.) placed fourth in intermediate flat on Champ, a 15.1 hand brown paint gelding. Elliot also rode Ghetti, a 15.2 chestnut warmblood mare, in novice fences and finished sixth.

Junior Jeanna Meloni (Falmouth, Mass.) rode Spirit, a 15.2 hand brown and white paint gelding, and posted a third-place showing in novice fences.

Juniors Maria Marchione (Hull, Mass.) and Sydney Hawes (Pembroke, Mass.) competed in the same advanced walk trot canter class. Marchione had a third-place showing on Lucky, a 15.3 hand bay gelding, while Hawes finished fifth on Jack, a 16.1 hand bay thoroughbred gelding.

Sophomore Tessa LeBlanc (Harwich, Mass.) won her advanced walk trot canter class on Lucky, which pointed her out of walk trot canter and into novice. LeBlanc also qualified for regionals in the spring.

Sophomore Emily Adams (Plympton, Mass.) rode Kitty, a 15.3 bay thoroughbred mare, in her first advanced walk trot canter class and recorded a third-place showing. Senior Heather Griffin (Scituate, Mass.) also rode lucky in advanced walk trot canter and placed fourth.

Freshman Kendra Latham (Newburyport, Mass.) placed third in her beginner walk trot canter class on Lucky and moved up into advanced walk trot canter.
