BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore designated hitter Sean Casey has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Baseball Rookie of the Week.
Casey batted .533 (8-15) with a walk, five runs and four RBI in three games for the Bears last week in Vero Beach, Florida. The Braintree, Massachusetts product also posted a .563 on base percentage.
In his collegiate debut, Casey went 6-for-12 with five runs and four RBI in a season-opening doubleheader split with The Apprentice School. He also went 2-for-3 with a walk in a 7-3 setback to Hilbert College.
The BSU baseball team is currently 2-2 on the young season. The Bears take on Eastern Nazarene College in a pair of games on Tuesday starting at 11:00 AM in Vero Beach.
