BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --- Bridgewater State senior
closer Brian Schilling has been named MASCAC
Co-Pitcher of the Week after he saved a pair of games in
Bridgewater’s two conference double-headers last week. He
shares the honor with Worcester State sophomore Joey
Lucier (Brockton, MA).
Schilling, a native of Weymouth, Mass, threw a perfect inning to
earn his third save of the season in the Bears 7-4 win over Mass.
Maritime and then hurled a perfect one-two-three inning with a pair
of strikeouts for his fourth save in BSC’s 4-1 win over
Westfield State.
In 14 appearances this season, Schilling is 1-0 posting a 1.32 ERA
in 13.2 innings to go along with three walks and 18 strikeouts. The
righthander leads the MASCAC in appearances, saves, and games
finished with 13.
The 17-12 Bears will visit south coast rival UMass-Dartmouth on
Thursday and Curry at Campanelli Stadium on Friday. BSC closes out
their MASCAC schedule with a home double-header versus MCLA at
noon.
