Bear T.R.A.C.K.S Model Teammate Award Diana DeMont

Bear T.R.A.C.K.S Model Teammate Award - Diana DeMont
The 2009-10 members of Bear T.R.A.C.K.S. are pleased to introduce the "Model Teammate Award." This award has been created to recognize student athletes who demonstrate a "work hard, play hard" attitude on and off the field. The recipients are chosen by their fellow teammates who feel they deserve recognition for all their efforts.
This week, the BSC Cross Country team has chosen Diana DeMont as Cross Country's 2009 Model Teammate of the Year.
Diana is a dedicated athlete whose enthusiasm for the sport is contagious. She has a never-say-die attitude and always has a smile on her face. Her teammates are in agreement that there is nothing bad that could be said about Diana, and they all concur that she is the ideal teammate.
Teammates describe Diane as kind and caring, and an athlete who never has a negative comment to make. She is constantly improving and she is always there to score points for her team. Although she is quiet at times, everyone notices how hard she works toward her personal goals as well as the team's goals, and she is truly an inspiration.
When Coach Smith was asked about Diana he replied, "I would say that Diana is everything a coach would want in an athlete. She quietly goes to work and makes the impossible look routine. She goes from unable to compete due to injury to all-conference in a few weeks. Her teammates are better because of her, and she remains one of the most coachable athletes I have ever been associated with."
As you can see, Diana is an all around great girl, and her greatness only begins as an athlete. She is also an amazing student, genuine friend, and a selfless, humble person who is always looking for a way to help others.
Bear T.R.A.C.K.S. (Teaching Responsible Athletes Challenging Knowledge through Service) is an NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills program established to bring all BSC student-athletes and teams together in support of each other. The committee is made up of approximately 45 student-athletes with the common goal of planning and implementing events that will bring the student-athletes together to foster a sense of pride, positive self-esteem and support for one another.
