BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Fifth Annual Crimson Pride Challenge has ended after a three-week campaign. For those of you who are not aware of what the Crimson Pride Challenge is, it is a social media driven giving campaign where our Varsity and Club Sports teams compete against each other to raise funds for their specific programs.
Last year, the challenge raised over $42,000 with the help of just over 700 donors. This year we set a goal of $50,000 and we still cannot believe the results. This year we raised a total of $69,305 from a record break 960+ donors! Both numbers are the highest ever recorded for this campaign and are far beyond what we could have ever imagined.
As part of the three-week challenge we also implement three mini-challenges, one for each week, to create more opportunity for teams to win. There is one winner each week and that team receives a $500 reward. The first mini-challenge crown went to the team that brought in the most funds during the first week, Swimming & Diving. The second mini-challenge crown went to the team that brought in the largest single donation, Women’s Lacrosse. The final mini-challenge winner was the team who brought in the most donors, again…Women’s Lacrosse!
The overall winner of the Crimson Pride Challenge is decided based on the highest amount raised per student-athlete and that team receives a match up to $5,000 as a reward. It is no surprise that the Women's Lacrosse team takes home the title of Crimson Pride Challenge Champion for the third year in a row, with a total of over $600 raised per student-athlete! Their team brought in a total of $13,036 during the three-week period and will receive another $1,000 for winning two mini-challenges, and another $5,000 for being crowned the overall champion. That is a total of over $19,000 in just three weeks…kudos & congratulations to Women’s Lacrosse!
It is safe to say that this was our most successful Crimson Pride Challenge yet and we are overwhelmed by all the donations and support we have received. Year after year, our donors continue to amaze us with their generosity and we are beyond grateful.
