34 BSU Student-Athletes Inducted into National College Athlete Honor Society

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University Department of Athletics inducted 34 student-athletes into the National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma) on Friday evening (April 11) in a ceremony held at the John J. Moakley Center.  This marks the inaugural year that the athletic department has held inductions.

Chi Alpha Sigma is a nonprofit organization established to recognize college student athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years.

The governing board represents all levels of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma) was founded at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, on May 17, 1996, by DePauw head football coach and professor of kinesiology, Nick Mourouzis.  Chi Alpha Sigma is the first national scholar-athlete society to honor those collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in both the classroom and in athletic competition.

Chi Alpha Sigma is composed of over 270 colleges and universities representing 40 states.
