BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- On Thursday, April 25, Bridgewater State University’s Maxwell Library will host an event on hockey—its history of where it came from and how it developed, its violence (particularly in the 1970s), its place in the politics of the Cold War, participation of women, and race, identity, and the globalization of the sport.
Dr. Andrew Holman, Professor of History here at BSU and former Bears men's ice hockey coach, will present a lecture revolving around his newly published book, Hockey: A Global History. This event begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Maxwell Library’s Heritage Room.
Members of the local community, students, faculty, and other BSU employees are invited to attend. If you know of anyone in the local community who may have an interest in hockey please help spread the word of this event. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
